Remigo Launches at Charleston Race Week
Remigo was excited to make the 2024 Charleston Race Week the launch for its activities in North America. The company’s elegant and rugged RemigoOne 3HP electric outboard, adopted by various J70 fleets in Europe, was awarded to the overall winner of the J70 fleet.

Held from April 18 to 21, the venue presented sailors with a variety of challenging conditions. Day one racing was conducted in light air and shifty conditions. The second day started as a floater, with the wind arriving late in the day and just in time to get some races off. As the wind intensified, it provided fast and exhilarating racing under sunny skies and pleasant summer-like temperatures. These changeable conditions, mounting winds, and the complicated currents in Charleston Bay put the 40 plus crews to the test, making for a dynamic and engaging regatta.
The J/70 class was notably competitive, with a fleet of 42 boats on the line, and numerous prominent teams driving the pace. Defending champion Brian Keane, skipper of Savasana, returned to defend his title. The fleet also included other skilled sailors, contributing to a highly contested series of races. When the smoke cleared, Doug Newhouse had clinched victory with his team on Yonder. Doug and the team finishing with a five-point lead over Brian Keane on Savasana. This achievement was particularly significant given the strong competition and the challenging sailing conditions throughout the event.
Five points behind Yonder was a three-way tie for the silver medal at 25 pts each. After comparing their results in individual races, it was Keane's Savasana at silver, Ed Lebens's Reggae Shark at bronze, and past World Champion Joel Ronning in Catapult taking 4th. Remigo applauds the accomplishments of the winners in an amazingly tight and competitive fleet and was especially happy to present the RemigoOne to Doug Newhouse and the team on Yonder.
